Attempted Car Jacking and Robbery in Mont Belvieu

MONT BELVIEU, November 30, 2010 - Last night at approximately 11:00pm MBPD dispatch received a 911 call, by a homeowner who had just pulled into her driveway, of a suspicious vehicle in the Cherry Creek Estates Subdivision (Kingspointe Blvd). Within just a few minutes the call was upgraded to a possible “home invasion” and “car jacking” with six (6) subjects armed with handguns with bandanas and hoodies covering their face coming towards the homeowner’s vehicle. The caller along with her daughter stayed in the vehicle while on the phone with dispatch and as the subjects exited their vehicle and approached her vehicle with their weapons, she left her driveway and headed towards the exit of the subdivision. The caller gave a vehicle description and a description of the suspects to MBPD dispatch as she was leaving her driveway.

Officer Simpson and Officer Blanchard were close to the area and located the suspect’s vehicle a few minutes later in the 11,800 block of SH 146 (traveling southbound on SH 146). A felony traffic stop was made and all six (6) suspects were taken into custody and the weapons were all located inside the vehicle. All six suspects were charged with Aggravated Robbery (Felony 1st) and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (Felony 2nd) and transported to the CCSO Jail this morning. All suspects reside within the City of Baytown.

Thanks to the homeowner for being alert to her surroundings as she pulled into her driveway and noticing a vehicle in the subdivision that did not belong and calling the police as well as thanks to Officer Simpson and Officer Blanchard for their quick response and locating the suspect’s vehicle and taking custody of all suspects involved.
