Accident on SH 321 Tarkington TARKINGTON, February 18, 2010 - Shortly before 4:00 on Wednesday afternoon, Tarkington firefighter Jimmy Flowers was headed home from work when he drove up on a car accident that had just occurred on SH321 in front of the Ranch Hand Cafe. He immediately notified City of Cleveland Police Department Dispatch and requested that City of Cleveland EMS and Tarkington Volunteer Fire Department be sent to the wreck.
Flowers then checked on the occupants of the three vehicles and worked to keep the scene safe until law enforcement, fire department, and EMS personnel could arrive. Traffic on SH321 is very heavy at that time of the day and the wreck completely blocked the northbound lane of the highway.
Cleveland EMS arrived and determined that all the injuries were minor, with all vehicle occupants refusing transport. TVFD, Texas DPS troopers, and Liberty County Sheriff’s Office vehicles blocked the wreck to keep others from running into it, while LCSO deputies directed traffic around the accident. Traffic was backed up to SH105 while the wreck was cleared.
