Winter Weather Advisory

LIBERTY, February 22, 2010 – According to Liberty County Emergency Management Coordinator, Tom Branch, the National Weather Service Office in Houston has placed Liberty County under a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at 2 pm Tuesday, February 23rd and continuing until 6 am Wednesday February 24th.

Information obtained during a 3:00 PM conference call with the National Weather Service indicates that our area can expect a rain snow mix beginning around 4 pm Tuesday. This will continue until approx. 6 am Wednesday. Temperatures will fall near or just below freezing in most of Liberty County after nightfall on Tuesday.

Accumulations of ice/snow are forecast to be less than 1" in most of Liberty County,however, slightly higher amounts are possible in the northern portion of the county.
Temperatures should rise above freezing sometime after 9 am Wednesday.

We are urging citizens to stay tuned to local media outlets for updates and advising those that do not have to travel, to refrain from doing so after dark on Tuesday through late Wednesday morning.
