Ernest Bradford Death Investigation

LIBERTY, May 25, 2010 - On Thursday, April 22, the Liberty Police Department (LPD) initiated an investigation into the death of Ernest Bradford, 33, of Liberty. Bradford’s body had been found in a pond area, south of the AutoZone parts store at the corner of U.S. 90 and Bowie Street. Bradford’s car had been found partially submerged in the pond, earlier the same day. Detective Chip Fairchild was the lead investigator for the case.

During the week of May 17th, LPD received the results of Ernest Bradford’s autopsy. The autopsy was performed at the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office in Beaumont, by Dr. Tommy Brown. The results included the cause and manner of death, and toxicology results.

The cause of death was listed as “Asphyxiation Due To Drowning”. The manner of death was listed as “Accident”.

Detective Fairchild explained the toxicology results, “There was a high level of the drug PCP (also known as “angel dust”) found in victim’s blood. The report stated the drug was at a level that had shown to be lethal in some humans.”

LPD’s investigation into the death of Ernest Bradford is now closed. The findings were also delivered to Justice of the Peace Bobby Rader, who conducted the scene inquest and ordered the autopsy on April 22.
