Boat Ramp Cleared for Weekend

LIBERTY, July 2, 2010 - There was lots of work going on at the boat ramp on the Trinity River at the US 90 river bridge on Friday afternoon.

Recently high water in the river had silted the boat ramp up with sand making it impossible to launch a boat.

Access to the river is important for fisherman as well as emergency personnel in the event of an accident on the river and the boat ramp had been rendered unusable due to sand.

Game Warden Danny Diaz explained that at one time there was a contract with the State of Texas to keep the boat ramp clear but that the work was not always done.

Diaz took it upon himself with the help of the tractor with front-end loader and some labor operating a jagger pump to clear the boat ramp prior to the July 4th weekend to use by the boating public.
