Home Burns in Suspicious Blaze

MOSS BLUFF, March 29, 2010 - Only minutes after 10:00 PM on Sunday night the Moss Bluff Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of structure fire on CR 133N just north of Lake Granada that was fully involved in flames.

 

The Hull Daisetta Volunteer Fire Department and Liberty Fire Department responded as well to assist in fighting this blaze.

The first fire engine to arrive was from Moss Bluff quickly followed by the other departments responding to this fire.

The structure was a manufactured home very near the roadway and fire was erupting from the doors and windows of the home when firefighters arrived on the scene.

According to Sheriff Department source at the scene there were no utilities hooked up to the home and the fire is considered suspicious in nature. The Liberty County Fire Marshall and fire investigators will be out on Monday to attempt to determine the origin of the fire and its’ cause.

The manufactured home was the residence of Paul Best, Jr. and Jennifer Shivers. Best had been in Hardin during he day on Sunday and arrived home, went inside and discovered a fire burning in the living room. He attempted to put out the fire but had no water. He then ran outside and called 911. Jennifer Shivers was not at home at the time of the fire.

The fire was noticed by neighbors near the residence who also reported it to authorities.
