Major Accident on FM 770

DAISETTA, September 20, 2010 - The Hull Daisetta Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene of a major accident involving two passenger cars on FM 770 at CR 184 just south of Daisetta, TX at approximately 6:30 PM on Monday.

 

According to DPS Trooper Cory Davis who investigated the accident, a gold, Chrysler Sebring was stopped at the stop sign on CR 184 when it pulled out onto FM 770 and was struck by a Chevy Camero traveling at speed south on FM 770.

The driver’s of both vehicles, who were the only occupants of the vehicles, suffered significant injuries in the collision.

Liberty County EMS responded to the scene and prepared both drivers for transport by air ambulance.

Life Flight landed on FM 770 just north of the accident scene at a temporary landing zone manned by the Hull Daisetta Volunteer Fire Department transporting both drivers to Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment.

The roadway was closed for a considerable time as the accident victims were extracted from their vehicles, the investigation was completed and debris was cleared from the roadway.

Trooper Davis did not release the names of the drivers of the vehicles.

A concerned spokesperson for Shamrock Vacuum who arrived on the scene identified the driver of the Camero as one of his employees, Britten Douglas Baker age 37 of Saratoga, who was in route to work at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Chrysler is unknown.

When asked what were the factors that contributed to the accident that would be the focus of his continuing investigation, Trooper Davis said, “I’m not going to release that information.”
