Fatal Accident on CR 143 LIBERTY, February 16, 2010 - At around 2:30 PM on Tuesday a fatal accident occurred on CR 143 south of Liberty off FM 563 that took the life of a passenger in a black Ford Explorer.
The Hull Daisetta Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to manage traffic control, assist the EMS Crew and set up a landing zone for Life Flight in a field adjacent to the accident scene.
Liberty County EMS responded to the accident preparing Jessica Lynn Lawler age 18 of Liberty for transport by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Little is known about her condition at press time.
According to DPS Trooper Ray Williams the Ford Explorer was traveling east on FM 143 when it ran off the road to the left, crossed the roadway to the right rolling over, crashing through a fence and winding up in the front yard of a manufactured home.
Both driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle. Neither was wearing a seat belt.
The passenger, Sara Rebecca Coleman age 38 of Stockbridge, GA was killed in the accident. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor. The investigation into the cause of this accident in ongoing being conducted by the Department of Public Safety. |
