The Meaning of Walder’s Tattoos

LIBERTY, December 27, 2009 - In the photos of Stevie “Bubba” Walder displayed on his MySpace.com page there are several tattoos. Some of those tattoos were mistakenly identified as being “lightening bolts.”

However, upon closer inspection and review those tattoos are actually the insignia of the Schutzstaffel or SS of Nazi Germany. Schutzstaffel is German for Protective Echelon.

The SS grew from a small paramilitary unit to a powerful force that served as the Führer's "Praetorian Guard," the Nazi Party's "Shield Squadron" and a force that, fielding almost a million men (both on the front lines and as political police), managed to exert as much political influence in the Third Reich as the Wehrmacht, Germany's regular armed forces. Built upon the Nazi ideology, the SS, under Heinrich Himmler's command, was responsible for many of the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Nazis during World War II, and most of the severest of those crimes.
