LIBERTY, December 10, 2009 - Just before 3:30 PM on Thursday an accident involving a Liberty ISD School Bus and a Dodge Pickup pulling a trailer occurred at the intersection of Edgewood Street and Texas Street in Liberty.

According to school officials there were 58 elementary school children on the bus at the time of the accident. None suffered injuries.

According to Officer Brian Downey of the City of Liberty Police Department the school bus was traveling east on Edgewood attempting to make a left turn onto Texas Street and the Dodge Pickup pulling a trailer loaded with a Ford Pickup was traveling south on Texas Street.

According to Officer Brian Downey the driver of the pickup did not consider the weight of the load on the pickup and failed to control speed crashing into the left rear wheel of the school bus. Liberty EMS responded to the accident and checked out the passenger in the Dodge pickup. Luckily no one had to be transported to the hospital.
