Judge Hight’s Former Court Coordinator Sues County LIBERTY, December 29, 2009 – In a lawsuit filed in the 75th District Court, Judge Rusty Hight’s former court coordinator, Cheryl Lyn Sanders alleges that she was fired from her job because of her disability and/or because of her claims with the EEOC and the Texas Workers Compensation Commission. The lawsuit states that Sanders suffered from daily exposure to dangerous toxic mold that has been growing and thriving in the Liberty County Courthouse due to leaks and ever-present moisture. Sanders claims to suffer from a severe allergy and sensitivity to certain types of mold, known to be toxic and dangerous especially in high levels and alleges that the same types of mold that causes Sander’s disability and that debilitate her health and safety are ever present in the Liberty County Courthouse at very high levels in her former office. Sanders seeks damages from the County for past and future pain and suffering, past and future mental anguish, physical impairment, aggravation of preexisting condition, medical expenses both past and future, loss of past and future earning capacity, loss of consortium, loss of household service and exemplary damages. Sanders further demands a jury trial and is represented by Liberty Attorney, Julie Karee’ Cain.
