Search Continues in Dayton DAYTON, November 2, 2009 – The search for a missing man in the floodwaters of the Trinity continued in Dayton starting at around 6:00 AM this morning.
According to Sgt. Coleman of the Dayton Police Department an FBI Surveillance Aircraft has been dispatched to the scene. Others helping in the search are EquiSearch, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Dayton VFD, Liberty Fire Department and several local individuals familiar with the area.
The search was being conducted from boats, ATV’s, and airboats that made entry from the Liberty Bell Ranch along highway 90. The Sheriff’s Office is due to bring to wave runners today to assist in the search.
Sgt. Coleman expressed his appreciation to Jack-In-The-Box who was providing food for the workers involved in the search efforts.
Additionally a field across FM 1008 from the staging area for the search was used as a parking lot and to land helicopters, according to Sgt. Coleman. Ken DeFoor of Dayton was in a fixed wing aircraft conducting a grid search in hopes of finding the man just before midday today. Sgt. Coleman stated that , search crews in the river bottom have located dead Cattle. Many local friends, family and associates of the missing man, identified as Gene Roberts age 45 of Dayton waited patiently for any word as to the whereabouts or condition of the their friend.
