ATF Agents Search Cleveland Annex Office LIBERTY, December 29, 2009 – i-dineout.com reported on December 22, 2009 that ATF Agents executed a search warrant on the home of Liberty County Sheriff’s Department Captain Harry Kelly. Kelly is the Captain in charge of the North end of Liberty County and third in command at the Sheriff’s Department. We learned today that those agents also served a search warrant on Kelly’s Sheriff Department Office in the Cleveland Annex in Cleveland. These search warrants are in connection with a US Attorney’s Office criminal investigation into Kelly and others. One law enforcement source told i-dineout.com that it is almost unheard of for a Search Warrant to be served on a public, county owned building as part of a criminal investigation. Recently Gordon Bean, just a Deputy at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, was charged with a simple, misdemeanor DWI and was suspended without pay for nearly a year before his case came to trial and he was found NOT GUILTY before his return to the Sheriff’s Department. We still do not know what if any action Chief Deputy Jim Cooper or Sheriff Henry Patterson have taken concerning Kelly in order to insure the safety of county owned property and the public. i-dineout.com contacted the ATF who confirmed that search warrants were served but could not comment on what locations were served. That information was confirmed with other sources. The US Attorney's Office in Beaumont would not confirm any information until indictments are served on those involved and the case proceeds to trial.
