Vehicles Collide in Construction Zone HARDIN, December 8, 2009 - An accident occurred on FM 834 about three miles west of FM 770 around 6:40 PM on Tuesday night. FM 834 is under construction at the present time and the location of this accident was in a construction zone.
According to DPS Trooper Cory Davis, a late model, white Chevy pickup was traveling east on FM 834 and was meeting a pickup pulling a low boy trailer. The Chevy pickup was driven by Ernie Enloe age 76 of Batson and the pickup pulling the trailer was driven by Jesse Shirley age 24 of Liberty.
As the two vehicles passed in opposite directions the Chevy pickup struck the tandem wheels of the low boy trailer sending it out of control and through the ditch on the north side of the roadway.
Luckily there were not injuries. The Hardin Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to manage traffic control. At this point on FM 834 the roadway has no center stripe or white fog line defining the lanes of traffic making it difficult to drive a night. According to Trooper Davis, Mr. Enloe failed to give one half of the roadway and struck the low boy trailer. Both drivers were insured.
