House Fire in North Liberty LIBERTY, November 7, 2009 - Stephen Dugger of Liberty was awakened by the smell of smoke in his home at 3:07 AM on Saturday morning. Shortly after the sound of smoke detectors alerted the family that their house at 102 Featherstone, near the North Main Baptist Church in Liberty, was on fire.
Dugger told i-dineout.com that he and his wife had built the home about 6 years ago. Stephen Dugger is one of our local Edward Jones Investment Representatives. Dugger, his wife and two children were at home at the time of the fire and all quickly evacuated the home without injury.
The City of Liberty Fire Department responded to the blaze that started in the garage according to the Fire Incident Commander. There was one vehicle parked in the garage at the time of the fire.
According to firefighters, the cause of the fire was an accidental electrical problem. Most of the fire was confined to the garage. However, the living area suffered some water damage and the house suffered smoke damage. The Dayton and Hardin Volunteer Fire Department also responded to provide mutual aid to fight this fire. The house suffered heavy damage. There were no reports of other injuries as a result of the fire. |
