"Forever Changed," Anti-drunk Driving Program TARKINGTON, November 4, 2009 - Tarkington Volunteer Fire Department recently made an important addition to its “Forever Changed” anti-drunk driving program. Following an accident in May that claimed the lives of two recent Tarkington graduates, the family of the driver donated the mangled car to TVFD in hopes that it might prevent other young people from dying.
Tarkington VFD mounted the vehicle on a donated trailer complete with signs that explain the events of the fatal accident. TVFD plans on using this vehicle to increase efforts in getting the message out to young adults of the dangers of drinking and driving, supplementing the biennial “Forever Changed” mock accident. The car has already been used during “Red Ribbon Week” at Hardin High School and was present at the October 23rd football game in Hardin.
This car is available to other area organizations to use to spread the anti-drunk driving message. For more information on Forever Changed and the Safety Awareness Car, please go to http:\\foreverchanged.tarkingtonvfd.net. |
