The Community Expresses Concern

LIBERTY, December 28, 2009 - The events of Chrismas evening involving the senseless murder of storeowner Naushad Virani have shaken the community according to Officer Hugh Bishop of the City of Liberty Police Department.

People who knew Mr. Virani and many others in the community have left memorials at the store today in Liberty.

The store will be closed until after the funeral and is then scheduled to reopen.

People left personal notes, flower arrangement and plants at the door to express their sympathies to Virani’s family.

A murder is an unusual occurrence in Liberty and one so violent as this on Christmas Day has had an impact.

Police Chief Billy Tidwell express his appreciation to the public for their cooperation in providing tips and information to investigators as a result of news broadcasts over the weekend.
