Health Care Gutted EDITORIAL WASHINGTON, December 17, 2009 - After nearly a year's work, lobbyists in Washington working with Repubicans in the Senate have nearly gutted the health care plan. They have removed the option for people to buy into Medicare at age 55 at the request of lobbyists representing Doctors and Hospitals because they would not be able to charge Medicare as much for their services as they would private individuals. Lobbyists for the pharmaceutical industry have successfully prevented the importation of low cost prescription dugs for the average person so that they can persevere massive profits. With the subsidies now in Health Care Legislation to individuals many more will be able to purchase insurance from existing insurance companies guaranteeing them a windfall profit and there is no public option to compete against them in the Senate version of the bill in order to control costs. The Health Care bill has been gutted to insure even more obscene profits for Doctors, Hospitals, Insurance Companies and the Pharmaceutical Industry. The Borowitz report puts it in this humorous and satirical way in their report of what rights you will have under the new plan titled, “Details of Healthcare Plan Revealed.”
