Murder Warrant Issued for Stevie R. “Bubba” Walder

LIBERTY, December 26, 2009 - The Liberty Police Department is investigating a Capital Murder that happened at the Ridgewood Grocery store in the 4300 block of North Main St.

Liberty Police received a 911 call at approximately 10:10 pm, Christmas night. A man had been in the store to make a purchase and he discovered what appeared to be the clerk, down behind the counter in a pool of blood. When officers and E.M.S. arrived, it was determined the clerk was dead from what appeared to be a gunshot to the head.

The LPD scene investigation determined that the victim was actually the store’s owner, Naushad I. Virani, 50, of Liberty. Store surveillance video has been recovered from the scene. Investigators believe the suspect to be STEVIE R. “BUBBA” WALDER, 31, of Liberty. Robbery was the apparent motive in the case. A warrant for Stevie Walder has been issued for the offense of Capital Murder.

Stevie Walder is a white male, 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and approximately 250 lbs. His head is shaved. He has numerous tattoos on his body, including a skull on the left side of his neck, a German “S.S.” on the right side of his neck, a large Swastika on his left bicep, and a tear drop under his right eye. He is known to drive a green Chevy truck, with Texas license plate: AB1-7183, or a dark green Dodge extended cab truck, with Texas license plate: 92L-RW3. Anyone that has information on Stevie Walder can contact the Liberty Police Department at 936-336-5666. If someone believes that have seen Stevie Walder or they know his whereabouts, call 911 immediately. Stevie Walder is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Citizens should not try to make contact with him or detain him.

Liberty PD investigators activated the Major Incident Response Team (MIRT), which consists of officers from various local agencies. Investigators from the Texas Rangers, Dayton PD, Cleveland PD, and Baytown PD, have been assisting with leads from Friday night and all day Saturday. Liberty PD will release more information as it becomes available.
