Justice Served?

LIBERTY, February 3, 2009 – In following up on news stories i-dineout.com has done in the past the arrest on charges of Driving While Intoxicated against Glen Vickery that we first reported on June 18, 2008 was one that we looked into. Vickery was arrested by Officer Frank Longoria of the City of Liberty Police Department in response to citizens complaints.

We contacted the County Attorney’s Office last week and learned from a spokesperson there that the case had been dismissed on December 31, 2008.

Assistant County Attorney Tommy Chambers told i-dineout.com that the case had been handled by Attorney Gary Bunyard in the County Attorney’s Office until he left the employment of the County Attorney’s office at the end of last year.

Chambers further stated that critical evidence in the case, namely the Lab Report of the blood sample given by Vickery at the time of his arrest had been misplaced and was missing.

With this critical piece of evidence missing Chambers told i-dineout.com that he had the case dismissed on the last day of December 2008 with the stipulation that it could be re-filed at a later date.

Liberty County's new County Attorney, Wes Hinch was elected in November of 2008 and took office on January 2, 2009.
