Damaging Winds Just Before Christmas

DAYTON, December 27, 2009 - Just before Christmas Southeast Texas experienced a day of very high winds with reported gusts up to 60 MPH.

Those winds did considerable damage to some parts of Dayton and Kenefick that caused many people to spend their Christmas cleaning up downed trees and limbs.

Some also experienced damage to roofs and homes as a result of the winds.

The tops of oaks as well as large pine trees were twisted and toppled.

Loose items littered back yards in Dayton and Kenefick.

In many areas limbs littered roof tops and loose shingles were scattered in yards.
