Dayton Hometown Holiday Celebration Coming Soon!

DAYTON, October 20, 2009 - The Dayton Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the date for the annual Hometown Holiday Celebration. Please mark your calendar for December 5th, 2009.

The City Christmas tree, next to City Hall on Cook Street, will be lit at 7:00 p.m. The tree will be surrounded by personalized candy canes made of heavy plywood, painted white with red stripes and sporting a large white bow that can be personalized with a name or business for $30.00.

There will be free games and prizes for the children, as well as other activities, including horse-drawn wagon rides. Popcorn and cotton candy will be served throughout the day, and all this at no charge. However, we do ask that you bring non-perishable food items as a donation.

Drinks and food will be available for purchase and there will be vendor booths selling a variety of items. Also available for a small fee will be photos with Santa.

Live entertainment will be provided throughout the day beginning with a parade at 2:00, followed by a children’s pageant. Later in the evening there will be a candle light and caroling around the Christmas tree, along with a nativity scene.

The day will conclude with a FIREWORK EXTRAVAGANZA at approximately 7:00 p.m. Make plans to join us for all the festivities. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy visiting with friends and neighbors.

Call the Dayton Chamber of Commerce at 936-257-2393 for information concerning the parade, candy canes, the Santa photos or the pageant.
