UPDATE from Liberty at 6:30 AM

LIBERTY, September 13, 2008 - At 6:25 AM on Saturday winds and rain are increasing in strength and it is expected that we will experience high winds for about 4 to 5 more hours before the weather begins to subside.

Officers with law enforcement agencies in Liberty County have been called in and are not patrolling at the present time due to the weather. As soon as the weather subsides they will be back out on the street.

One Officer with LCSO who was forced to make a two block trip in downtown Liberty stated that, “Street were like a mine field,” with large limbs blocking the streets.

The woman in the Eastgate Subdivision giving birth in Dayton mentioned in a previous report now has contractions about 3 minutes apart and Liberty County EMS cannot get to her at this time due to weather conditions.

There have been seven reports received by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office of trees through homes. The locations of these are as follows: Rye, two on FM 1409, one in Dayton Oaks on FM 321, one on FM 563 south of Liberty and two in Ames.

There are unconfirmed reports of damage to buildings in downtown Liberty. We are waiting until daylight and for the weather to subside to venture out.

Stay tuned for further reports.
