Two Women Arrested in Drug Free Zone

LIBERTY, July 22, 2008 - Shortly before midnight on Monday, Officer Aaron Venegas of the City of Liberty Police Department noticed two women fighting inside a car in the driveway of the Park Forest Apartments on Cook Road.

Investigation revealed that Amber Nicole Perkins age 25 of Hardin had taken her mother’s car without permission and driven to the apartments to see her girlfriend, Dayna Lynn Turner age 35 of Liberty. Turner was found in the company of another woman, which initiated the disturbance.

Officers discovered that Amber Nicole Perkins had outstanding warrants for Failure to Appear and was taken into custody.

Dayna Lynn Turner fled on foot from Officers and was captured.

Found in her possession was approximately 4 grams of Crack Cocaine and about $200.00 in small bills.

This area is in the Drug Free Zone making the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance a Second Degree Felony. Additionally, Turner was charged with Fleeing or Evading Arrest of Detention.

Both women were transported to the Liberty County Jail.

Officer Venegas was assisted by Officer Frank Longoria of the City of Liberty Police Department.
