Fire Destroys Manufactured Home

DAYTON, September 28, 2008 - The Highway 321 Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fully involved manufactured home fire in the 9900 block of SH 321, adjacent to Tooley’s Bar, north of the prison around 11:15 PM on Saturday night.

Chief Leslie Edwards called for additional water and manpower to fight the blaze and Kenefick, Dayton and Tarkington Volunteer Fire Departments responded to assist.

According to Edwards prior to their arrival neighbors went around the trailer beating on the side of the trailer attempting to get anyone who may be inside out. No was came out of the trailer and it was thought no one was at home at the time of the fire.

Upon arrival of the Highway 321 Fire Department flames were coming out of the roof and firefighters immediately disconnected the power and a propane tank from the structure.

According to Chief Edwards the fire appeared to have started in the central living area of the home and spread.

Once extinguished firefighters did a sweep of the home and determined no one was inside.

At press time arson had not been ruled out as a cause of this fire and an arson investigator was on scene.

The home was completely destroyed.
