City Announces Debris Pick Up Schedule

LIBERTY, October 7, 2008 - Due to the large amount of debris left by Hurricane Ike, the City and its contractor have been working diligently to clean our city. For comparative purposes, total vegetative debris picked up in 2005 from Hurricane Rita was 5,800 cubic yards. The total amount of vegetative debris from Hurricane Ike is estimated to be 155,000 cubic yards.

Please read carefully the following information:

Pickup of construction debris will begin on Tuesday, October 7th.

If you want storm debris, to include vegetative and construction debris, to be picked up by the contractor, you must have this debris at curbside by dark on Sunday, October 12th. After this date, when you see the contractor in your neighborhood, it will be the contractor’s last pass in your area.

The city projects that the contractor will complete the pickup process by Thursday, October 16th.
