Pickup Crashes into House on FM 1011

LIBERTY, August 19, 2008 - A pickup traveling north on FM 1011 crashed into the front porch of a house around 3:20 PM on Tuesday.

The pickup crossed the northbound lane of FM 1011 collided with a private drive, went airborne for about 80 feet, crossed two front yards and crashed into the front porch of a two-story house belonging to Edwene Bell.

The driver, identified as Margaret Ann Thain age 35, was unconscious and unresponsive after the accident. Her passenger, Gilbert Glenn Thain, Sr. age 40 of Liberty suffered only minor injuries.

Margaret Thain was transported by Liberty County EMS to the helipad at the Liberty Fire Station and flown by Life Flight to Houston’s Hermann Hospital for treatment.

According to DPS Trooper Kevin Hussey, Margaret Thain will receive citations for No Driver’s License and Unsafe Speed. Gilbert Thain, Sr. received a citation for not wearaing a seat belt.
