| Suspensions Issued to Police Personnel LIBERTY, December 16, 2008 - i-dineout.com learned today that two dispatchers, one clerical person and three Police Officers were issued up to three day suspensions without pay as a result of an internal investigation into allegations surrounding a party held on September 16, 2008 at the temporary police headquarters on US 90 near the Trinity River where alcoholic beverages were consumed while Officers were on duty. September the 16th was the time the community was suffering the ravages of Hurricane Ike and the department was more heavily staffed to manage any problem or difficulties that could happen as a result of the hurricane. i-dineout.com first published the allegations of police wrongdoing on October 10, 2008 where sources close to the investigation described the events of September 16, 2008 as a “Drunken Party.” According to Acting Police Chief Ricky Skarpa, the two dispatchers and the clerical person, all female, have since served out their suspensions but, the three Police Officers involved had chosen to appeal their suspensions to Liberty City Manager, Ron Wood. According to Skarpa, the appeals will take several days and the results of those appeals won’t be available until sometime in early January. The names of the suspended Officers were withheld pending the outcome of their appeals.
