Governor Perry Denies Disaster Declaration for Daisetta
AUSTIN, June 11, 2008 - Liberty County Judge Phil Fitzgerald had requested assistance from the Governor’s Division of Emergency Management for the City of Damietta as a result of the recent sinkhole.
That request has been denied by the Governor’s Office in a letter from Jack Colley Chief of the Emergency Management Division citing that the Emergency Management Division has no funding sources or programs that could be applied to this situation and that it did no meet the criteria for a Federal Disaster Declaration.
