Fire Ruled Accidental

LIBERTY, December 5, 2008 – The fire on Tuesday that took the life of homeowner Dwayne Shellhammer of Liberty on CR 142 south of Liberty has been ruled accident. According to investigators an unattended item left on the stove started the fire.

An autopsy revealed that Shellhammer died in the fire as a result of smoke inhalation.
