Driver Flees Police for the Second Time

DAYTON, September 27, 2008 - Late Friday night DPS Trooper Jamie Neault initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Ford 150 on SH 146 South of Dayton and thee vehicle fled southbound toward Mont Belvieu.

The vehicle ran into Chambers County and Harris County DPS Trooper spiked the vehicle just north of Mont Belvieu.

The vehicle proceeded west on the I-10 feeder and onto westbound Interstate 10. Baytown PD joined the pursuit and spiked the vehicle again on the westbound feeder of I-10.

The vehicle was running red lights and passing other vehicle on the right shoulder. The pursuit continued on to John Martin Road, Sjolander Road and Wallisville Road before the vehicle became disabled and the driver ran it into the ditch.

The driver, Ronald Chance Mekalip, age 22, of Mont Belvieu was apprehended at the scene.

You may recall that Mekalip was arrested on August 23, 2008 in Liberty after running from police.
