Limited Supplies of Ice and Water Arrive in Liberty County LIBERTY, September 14, 2008 - Sunday afternoon the first loads of water and bags of ice arrived at Woodrow Wilson School in Dayton, Stancil Park in Cleveland the Football Stadium in Liberty.
Supplies were limited and two bags of ice were distributed per car that went through the long lines in Liberty stretching down Bowie Street almost of US 90 and along Grand Street.
Community Volunteers loaded the much-needed supplies into waiting cars as supplies lasted. This was truly neighbors helping neighbors.
Supplies of gasoline are in very limited supply and most stores to buy anything are only accepting cash as payment as there is no electricity to operate credit card machines. If you plan to return to Liberty, which is not advised at this time, you must be self-sufficient.
Community Organizer, John Hebert, as he has done before, has opened his gas station at FM 563 and US 90 Sunday afternoon to sell gas only. No one is allowed in the store. The line Sunday afternoon stretched south along FM 563 to the south end of Independence Drive within a short time of opening for gas sales. Give us your Feedback about this story!
