Citizen’s Asked NOT to Burn LIBERTY, September 29, 2008 - Today Liberty County Judge, Phil Fitzgerald advised i-dineout.com that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has notified Liberty County of Poor Air Quality as a result of burning. The TCEQ requested that County Judge Fitzgerald make a public plea to citizens to stop boning debris until further notice. Smoke from such fires has the potential to cause eye, nose and throat irritation and can be harmful to those with lung problems such as asthma or emphysema. Citizens are encouraged to place debris near the street where crews from the state and county will remove the debris and properly dispose of it in safe manner.
