WESTLAKE, July 8, 2008 - Around 8:10 PM on Tuesday an unknown caller notified the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department of an accident on FM 1409 at CR 430.

The Westlake Volunteer Fire Department and Liberty County EMS were dispatched to the scene of the one vehicle accident involving a pickup truck.

While waiting for the arrival of emergency personnel, the driver, identified as James Bond, age 49 of Dayton fled the scene and went to his nearby home on CR 436.

Officers went to the home and were told that his father was hiding. After brief search Bond was located in the woods behind his residence.

The Chevy pickup Bond was driving still had paper tags.

Bond sustained a laceration to the head in the accident and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

According to DPS Trooper Rob Willoughby, Bond was administered a field sobriety test and it was determined that he had been driving while intoxicated.

Bond was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to the Liberty County Jail. Additional charges against Bond are pending.
