UPDATE from Liberty at 5:24 AM Saturday

LIBERTY, September 13, 2008 - It is not safe to venture outside at 5:22 AM on Saturday in Liberty as the strongest winds have not yet arrived. The city is completely dark as power is out all over the city.

There are no large trees in the front yard of our home office near the Post Office in Liberty. We ventured out on our front porch and took this one photo to check for debris in the front yard. Leaves from trees covered everything litter in the yard and covering the sides of homes.

It is hard to imagine what sights daylight will bring and surely there are trees and large limbs down.

We patiently wait for daylight and for the winds and rain to subside.

As we are listening to the scanner at the time of this report the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office dispatched an ambulance to Dayton for a woman whose contractions were 5 minutes apart and regular. Ambulances could not respond at this time but advised the woman what to do.
