18-Wheeler and Pickup Crash West of Dayton
DAYTON, July 19, 2008 - An 18-wheeler rear-ended a Nissan King Cab pickup in the eastbound lanes of US 90 west of Dayton near CR 603.
The Dayton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, as did Liberty County EMS. The driver of the Nissan was rescued from the wreckage of his vehicle suffered a laceration and a head injury. The accident occurred around 12:30 PM on Saturday.
The 18-wheeler pulling a flat bed trailer had the markings of Quickcrete and was traveling east on US 90 when the Nissan pickup pulled out of a private drive into the eastbound lane directly in front of the semi tractor trailer.
The 18-wheeler ran over the rear of the pickup and pushed it into the ditch in the center media of the roadway. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured. The driver of the 18-wheeler was identified, as Clayton McQueen age 46 of Liberty and the driver of the Nissan pickup was Reynel Estrada Santana age 45 of Houston. According to Dayton Police Santana received a citation for Failing to Yield Right of Way from a Private Drive.
