Fire Consumes Manufactured Home in Hardin

HARDIN, December 29, 2007 - Friday night the Hardin Volunteer Fire Department and the Hull Daisetta Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a manufactured home fire on CR 2058 about one half mile north of FM 834 East in Hardin.

The fire at 500 CR 2058 apparently was far along before it was reported to authorities and was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived.

The home belonged to Mr. Emmitt Welch who had only moved the home onto the property about two months ago and was renovating its’ interior in preparation for moving in. Welch and his wife are expecting a baby in February and baby clothes and paraphernalia were lost in the fire.

According to Welch there were no utilities hooked up to the home.

Firefighters upon arrival pulled two attack lines to fight the fire utilizing water supplied by one fire engine and the tanker truck from the Hull Daisetta Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters stated that the fire was suspicious and notified the Liberty County Fire Marshall to start his investigation into the unknown cause of the destructive fire.
