Major Accident on FM 1409 at CR 442
WESTLAKE, December 31, 2007 - Liberty County EMS and Trinity Bay EMS responded to a major accident on FM 1409 at CR 442.
According to Joel Davila with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, a gray Chevy pickup traveling west on CR 442 disregarded the stop sign and pulled onto FM 1409 into the path of a northbound Mercury Marquis. The two vehicles collided in a near head on collision.
The driver of the Chevy pickup, Terry David Reeves age 50, was not injured.
The driver of the Mercury, Jessica Sneed age 26 of Minneola, TX and her adult front seat passenger both sustained head injuries and were transported by Trinity Bay EMS to the helipad at the Westlake Fire Station where they were transferred to the care of Life Fight and flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment. Two children ages 5 and 7 in the Mercury were transported by Liberty County EMS to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
The children appeared not to be wearing any safety restraints.
According to Davila, Reeves will receive a citation for Disregarding a Stop Sign and neither driver had insurance.
