Wallisville Heritage Park Publishes Cookbook with Liberty Connections WALLISVILLE, December 10, 2007 - The Wallisville Heritage Park is pleased to announce the publication of their cookbook, "Memories Are Made of This," which includes some strong Liberty connections. Sylvia Lamb of Wallisville, one of the compilers, is the wife of Liberty native Michael R. Lamb and the daughter-in-law of the late Marguerite Lamb, longtime city secretary here. The cookbook is dedicated to the late Triphene Middleton of Liberty. It contains several recipes from Mrs. Middleton's files and numerous recipes from Liberty families. "Memories Are Made of This" is available for purchase locally at the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Liberty Gazette. Copies are also available at the Wallisville Heritage Park and at Security State Bank in Anahuac. The books have been printed by Kemp & Company, a Houston publishing firm, and sell for $20 per copy. These cookbooks will make excellent Christmas gifts and area residents are urged to call the museum to reserve their copies now. For more information about the cookbook, call the Wallisville Heritage Park at 409-389-2252. The cookbook is being published in commemoration of the One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary [Sesquicentennial] of Chambers County, Texas, which was created by action of the Texas Legislature and Texas Governor Hardin R. Runnells in February 1858. Several special events are being planned in 2008 to commemorate the anniversary of this important event. "Memories Are Made of This" is filled with early recipes from Chambers and Liberty counties and includes many rare and interesting main dishes, cakes, cookies, beverages, candies and other food items from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Historical photographs from across the county are included. The hardcover cookbook contains over 600 recipes. The recipes were compiled by Sylvia Lamb, Mary Jean Abshier and Kevin Ladd.
