Officer Shot in San Jacinto County SAN JACINTO COUNTY, July 18, 2007 - The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office has released a bulletin looking for a man involved in the shooting of a San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Deputy. The Deputy was shot in the head and possibly struck by the suspect’s vehicle, described as Chevy SUV with a laptop inside. The suspect has also been wounded in the incident that occurred around 3:14 AM on Wednesday morning north of Cleveland. Officers were looking for a champagne colored SUV with possible license plate number 645 XVK. The suspect was last seen wearing a white shirt, black shorts and left the scene in an unknown direction of travel. A Coast Guard helicopter landed on SH 105 near the Tennessee Gas plant, north of Cleveland, to transport the injured Deputy to the hospital. Weather conditions prevented other medical air transport helicopters from flying. The officer was said to be in critical condition. About two hours after the incident law enforcement officers thought they had located the SUV in Houston and the suspect at a Houston hospital seeking treatment for his injuries. That information was coincidental. The SUV was latter found around 7:00 AM about one mile from where the incident occurred off the roadway and a person thought to be the suspect was found deceased inside the vehicle. At press time details surround this incident are sketchy. Please check back for updates on this breaking story.
