Former Liberty County Lawman Arrested for Aggravated Kidnapping

LIVINGSTON, December 6, 2007 - According to affidavits from the Polk County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Office and sources at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Onalaska Police Officer Gregory Ross Bogany was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon and Aggravated Kidnapping

Bogany was taken into custody on Tuesday by Polk County Sheriff’s Department Deputies and at press time remains in the Polk County Jail.

According to the Affidavits, Bogany’s girlfriend, Candis Yevette Robinson was kidnapped as she left work at the Brookshire Brothers Store in Porter, TX where she worked on Monday.

According to the affidavit, Bogany was observed at the Brookshire Brothers Store in Porter, TX on December 3, 2007 on the store’s video surveillance cameras when the alleged kidnapping occurred.

He is seen on the tape talking with Candis Yevette Robinson in the store.

According to the affidavit, it was while Bogany was speaking to Robinson that he received a cell phone call from Onalaska Police Chief Ron Gilbert notifying him that Robinson had filed a protective order against him.

The video then shows Bogany leave and then come back to the parking lot of the store using his key to gain access to Robinson’s vehicle. Bogany left in the vehicle and then returned it to where it had been parked, and according to the affidavit, got into the back seat, gained access to the trunk and waited for Robinson.

Bogany, according to the affidavit, laid the back seat down, exiting the trunk of the car as Robinson drove away. He is alleged to have held a gun on Robinson and forced her to drive to his brother-in-law’s house identified as Malcolm Wyatt in Polk County.

According to the affidavit, Wyatt did not interfere with Bogany because he was concerned that Bogany would kill both himself and Robinson.

At press time, Bogany is being held in the Polk County Jail on $100,000 bond for the Aggravated Kidnapping Charge and $10,000 bond on the Aggravated Assault Charge.

Officer Bogany has been employed previously with the Cleveland Police Department, Liberty Police Department and was previously assigned to the Chambers Liberty County Narcotics Task Force before going to work for the Onalaska Police Department.
