Gas Prices Decline Slightly
HOUSTON, December 14, 2007 - Texas gas prices dropped for the second straight week across the board but remain 60 to 70 cents higher than a year ago, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. The Texas statewide average dropped by almost a nickel this week to $2.857, while the nationwide average also fell five cents to $2.985 a gallon.
"Texas, along with most other states, is experiencing gas price drops as crude oil prices have quickly backed down from record high levels," said AAA Texas spokesperson Rose Rougeau. "The statewide gas price average has remained above $2.65 a gallon since April of this year."
The lowest average price on this week’s survey is Fort Worth at $2.81 a gallon, which is four cents below last week. Austin-San Marcos has the highest average at $2.92 a gallon - three cents below last week's average.
