Financial Management Workshop for Senior Citizens
RAYWOOD, December 5, 2006 - A Financial Management Workshop for Senior Citizens will be presented by Dr. Maxine Hammonds-Smith, renowned gerontologist, on December 15th at Langetree DUCK FARM Eco Center. The workshop is a part of their Community Center activities. Today‚s shifting economic realities means many people need to re-assess their financial situations, strategies and long-term goals. It will consist of three parts: Financial Management, Using Credit Wisely, and Identity Theft.
Dr. Hammonds-Smith is a consultant for AARP, Americorps/VISTA, and the Department of Education. She is a Certified Family Life Educator with the Center on Aging and the Horizons Intergenerational Wellness at Texas Southern University in Houston. Dr. Hammonds-Smith is the co-author of "Child & Adult Care Professionals" by McGraw-Hill. This is the textbook for an occupational program preparing students at grades 10-12 for employment in child care and/or adult care centers. This program prepares students for the CDA (Child Development Associate) certification.
The workshop will be held from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, December 15th and includes breakfast and lunch. The program is free to the adult public only. There only 25 seats available, and must be held with a reservation. The workshop is being underwritten by HSBC, an international banking and financial corporation. There will also be door prizes.
