1,600 Bikes for Needy Children LIBERTY, December 22, 2006 - The Annual Christmas Bike Giveaway program was held at the fairground in Liberty Friday afternoon. There were hot dogs, Frito pies, chips and drinks for everyone, a visit from Santa and much more. According to event organizer, David Milam, this is the fourth year that this event has been held in Liberty. The event started out small but has grown every year making it necessary to change venues. This year the event was held in the rodeo arena that was packed with decorations, toys and about 1,600 bicycle and tricycles for the little ones. The event benefits underprivileged children in the area. Children had an opportunity to talk to Santa who arrived by helicopter from the North Pole. Event organizers wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
