Fire in Chimney Threatens Home VIDEO in QuickTime HARDIN, November 17, 2005 - The Hardin Volunteer Fire Department was summoned to the Erwin Watson residence on CR 2099 north of Hardin around 8:30 PM when the fireplace in Watson home caught on fire threatening the remainder of the house.
Gaining access to the fire in the two-story house was difficult for firefighters. Ultimately chains and a farm tractor were used to pull the fireplace chimney down, away from the house, to get access to the fire inside the structure.
The Hull Daisetta Volunteer Fire Department and the Liberty Fire Department were dispatched to the scene to assist in fighting this blaze.
One theory as to the cause of the fire was that Hurricane Rita could have caused some damage to the fireplace and chimney making is unsafe for use. At press time there were no reports of injuries as a result of the fire. Give us your Feedback about this story! |
