Accident Takes Life of Dayton Man VIDEO in QuickTime

DAYTON, November 26, 2005 – Terrible weather on Saturday morning at 7:51AM was a contributing factor in a major accident on SH 146 near the Liberty Chambers County line south of Dayton.

According to DPS Trooper Tommy Chase, a Geo Tracker driven by Dean Morales age 35 of Dayton was traveling north on SH 146 when it hydroplaned going into a sideway skid. The Geo was in the southbound lane of traffic when its’ right passenger side collided with an 18-wheeler pulling a shipping container leased to Canal Cartage traveling south.

The 18-wheeler driven by Augustine Martinez age 34 of Dayton, jack knifed in the roadway. The force of the collision shredded the Geo into pieces. Much of the Geo wound up under the 18-wheeler tractor. The driver of the Geo was ejected from the vehicle.

Justice of the Peace Ronnie Davis conducted an inquest pronouncing Dean Morales dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy.

Further investigation by the Department of Public Safety may yield other possible factors that contributed to this accident.

PIT HAMS

Pit Hams

A Pit Ham is a natural shaped, old-fashioned ham that gives you the flavor of a bone-in ham without the bone. Pit Hams are totally boneless so you can carve throughout the ham with no bone waste. They are smoked in a net for 8 hours over hickory hardwood chips. Then the net is removed before the ham is Cryovac packed and placed in the box. Even though the pit hams are fully cooked, they are designed to be reheated before serving to give you optimal flavor. They should be carved from the large end, across the grain and sliced thin for optimal flavor.

Pit hams are available daily from 12 to 18 lbs. in size
