City Hires Fielder & Gunter as New Tax Attorney

LIBERTY, March 8, 2005 - Liberty City Council, in it’s meeting on Tuesday night, listened to presentations made by three law firms who had submitted proposals to be the city’s Tax Collection Attorney and hired the Dayton firm of Fielder & Gunter.

Attorney Mike Fielder made the presentation to council. Councilman Charles McGuire made the motion to hire his firm, which was seconded by Councilman J. C. Burnham. The motion passed unanimously by Councilmen, Brunham, McGuire, Beasley and McCarty.

Councilman Mark Beausoliel abstained from discussion and voting on the issue due to a conflict of interest.

According to Fielder the term of the city’s contract with his firm was not limited. However, Mr. Fielder stated, “all we ask is 30 days notice [to terminated the agreement].”
