Local Govenments may Receive Additional Sales Tas Revenue

AUSTIN, November 14, 2005 - According to Texas Comptroller, Carol Keyton Strayhorn, local governments in 22 disaster counties impacted by Hurricane Rita may, upon request, receive additional sales tax revenue, if their November and/or
December 2005 sales tax allocation declines compared to November and December 2004.

The state is offering to make local governments whole, so they do not suffer a sudden drop in sales tax revenue. The local governments that qualify in November are listed in the table below. Local officials can get more information about receiving additional sales tax money in November and December by contacting the Comptroller’s Tax Allocation Section at 1-800-531-5441 ext. 34530 or 512-463-4530.
