LCSO Releases Details of Friday Morning ShootingDAYTON, December 19, 2005 - On Friday morning, December 16, 2005, at approximately 6:00am Riehelia Bryant was taking her 16 year old son to school. As she left her driveway and was driving on County Road 613 she saw what appeared to be a small dark truck or SUV stopped in the roadway. The vehicle then turned on its lights and drove toward her and blocked the roadway.A male, possibly Hispanic, got out of the driver’s side of the vehicle and began firing shots at her. One bullet went through the windshield and struck the victim in the hand. As she was being fired upon a second vehicle pulled up behind her and blocked her from leaving. The victim put her SUV in reverse and rammed into the vehicle behind her and was able to get her vehicle turned around and get away. The vehicle that was rammed was disabled and was found approximately 100 yards away by investigators. It was a black 1997 Ford F150 that was later in the morning reported stolen from Houston. Investigators from the Liberty County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Public Safety are currently investigating possible leads in the case but have not, as of yet, made any arrests. The victim was not able to provide anymore information on the vehicle or the suspect who fired shots at her and investigators have not been able to establish a motive.
