According to Captain of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Division Chip Fairchild, a brown Chevy Pickup, driven by Daniel Mastalez, age 41 of Rye, was traveling north on Holly Grove Road. Passengers in the Chevy pickup included three girls thought to be his daughters. The Chevy pickup was in pursuit and bumping a red Dodge pickup from the rear driven by David Isenhower age 44 of Ace, TX. Isenhower’s passenger was Kerri Mastalez, the wife of Daniel Mastalez, driver of the Chevy truck.
The actions of the Chevy pickup caused the red Dodge Pickup to wreck rolling over on the driver’s side.
Mastalez was transported from the scene on Holly Grove Road to a landing zone at the Rainbow Baptist Church on SH 146 at FM 787, where he was transferred into the care of Life Flight in critical condition. He was flown to Houston’s Hermann Hospital for treatment. Isenhower was detained and interviewed by LCSO Investigators. Sgt.
